Phil Jones Bass and La Bella Strings have partnered once again to present the Solo Bass Contest on Friday, January 29, 2027, at 7:00 PM at the Clarion Hotel in Anaheim CA during the 2027 NAMM Show.
Contestant submissions are now being accepted. Bassists interested in competing are encouraged to submit their entry for consideration and the opportunity to take the stage in Anaheim during one of the music industry’s biggest weeks of the year.
The event puts the spotlight squarely on the individual bassist where contestants will have the opportunity to demonstrate their own musical voice and will be judged in five key categories: Originality, Technique, Groove & Timing, Dynamics, and Wow Factor. Celebrities from the bass community will present each of the contestants.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three finalists and will include an assortment from PJB, Labella and other companies. Judges will include several bass luminaries. Prizes and Judges to be announced.
Presented by two companies with long-standing commitments to bass players — Phil Jones Bass Amplification and La Bella Strings — the contest is designed to celebrate the bass as a complete musical instrument while giving players an opportunity to showcase their talent in front of fellow musicians and members of the music industry gathered in Anaheim for NAMM. Bassists, musicians, NAMM attendees and fans of the instrument are also invited to attend.
